Description
Nóra Szendi's heroine, Irén, sees herself as a closed entity, or more precisely, a being trapped in a closed entity. As she sometimes stumbles and sometimes rushes and flies through the inner space of the novel, new closed entities of existence emerge: groups of individuals, paired solitudes. If the reader looks behind the translucent crystal wall of the closed entities, he can follow the relationship of a young woman with four men. Three of them are modern men in today's Budapest, and the fourth is Dániel Berzsenyi, the classic poet. Wry humor, colorful fantasy, lively rhythmic language, and the bold ruthlessness of the writing make the writing world of Nóra Szendi's first novel worthy of attention and memory. Nóra Szendi László Márton was born in 1988 in Budapest, and currently lives in Telki. He graduated from Városmajor High School, graduated from ELTE BTK in 2009 as a Hungarian undergraduate, and from 2013 as a Hungarian language and literature master's student there. Previously, he worked for Jaffa Publishing House, and currently for Generalpress and Kulcslyuk Publishing House. His short stories, novel excerpts and book reviews have been published since 2012 in the printed and online versions of Apokrif, as well as in the columns of Alföld, HVG Online, Litera, Műút Online, Palócföld and ÚjNautilus, among others. He was the author of the Feketemosó blog for a year. His illustrations and fine art works appeared in the pages of Apokrif and 2000. His first exhibition, titled The Pure Pleasure of Public Transportation, with Hanna Tillmann, was on display at the Attention Creative Workshop in January 2014.
