Description
There are authors whose oeuvres span the boundaries of eras. The humanities bridge this gap in discourse by naming trends, mainly at the border of era styles, which both carry the most important characteristics of the artistic aspirations of the previous and new eras. In Hungarian literary history, we can examine, for example, Csokonai's oeuvre, which can be characterized equally by the stylistic features of Baroque, Mannerism and Classicism, in this way, capturing its genre and stylistic diversity. But we can also analyze many other oeuvres of 20th-century Hungarian literature with the same method. The initiated reader does not strive for synthesis; the essays are written in a language that is understandable, yet scientifically demanding, and they reflect on numerous literary questions. The authors discussed in the volume are, without claiming to be exhaustive: among the classics, Jenő Dsida, Domokos Szilágyi and Aladár Lászlóffy, and among the contemporaries, János Szentmártoni, László Kürti, Eszter Dobozi and György Ferdinandy.
